How Amazon.co.uk seller fees work

Amazon.co.uk fees follow a UK-specific structure: referral percentages by category (minimum £0.25 on most categories), thirteen FBA size tiers from Light Envelope to Special Oversize, and Low-Price FBA rates for items under £20.00. Published fees exclude VAT, while referral percentages apply to your VAT-inclusive price.

This calculator uses the current UK rate card so you can check any product in seconds — and see whether FBA or fulfilling orders yourself leaves more profit after every fee is accounted for.

The formulas behind the numbers

Nothing is hidden — these are the exact rules the calculator applies, in the order it applies them.

Referral fee
Your category's percentage of the selling price. Price-banded categories are applied exactly as published, with a £0.25 minimum per item.
FBA fulfillment fee
Determined by size tier (from your dimensions) and billed weight — the greater of unit and dimensional weight for most tiers. A 1.5% fuel & logistics surcharge is added on top.
Storage fee
Package volume × the monthly rate for your size class × months stored. October–December uses peak rates.
Expected profit
Price − all fees − product cost − shipping − advertising, weighted by your return rate: returned units cost you the refund admin fee, the FBA fee and the unit itself.
Margin & ROI
Margin is expected profit as a share of price. ROI is expected profit relative to the cash you put in (product cost + shipping).
Break-even price
The lowest price where expected profit reaches zero — solved against the full fee structure, including fee brackets and minimums.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to sell on Amazon.co.uk?

Every sale pays a referral fee — a percentage of the sale price that varies by category (most categories are around 8–15%). If you use FBA, you also pay a fulfillment fee based on your item's size tier and weight, plus monthly storage. This calculator applies the current published rates, effective 2026-04-17.

What is the difference between FBA and FBM?

With FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon), Amazon stores, picks, packs and ships your orders for a per-unit fulfillment fee plus storage. With FBM (Fulfillment by Merchant), you ship orders yourself and pay no fulfillment or storage fees, but you cover shipping and handling. The calculator shows both side by side so you can pick the cheaper route per product.

How is the referral fee calculated?

The referral fee is your category's percentage applied to the total sale price. Some categories use price bands — either the whole price is billed at the band it falls into, or each portion of the price is billed at its own rate. A minimum of £0.25 per item applies in most categories.

What is Low-Price FBA on Amazon.co.uk?

Items priced at or below £20.00 automatically get reduced FBA fulfillment rates. The calculator applies them for you and shows a "Low-Price FBA" badge when they're active — no separate program signup is needed.

Why is my FBA fee slightly higher than the published rate card?

Since 2026-04-17, Amazon applies a 1.5% fuel & logistics surcharge on top of published FBA fulfillment fees. This calculator includes it automatically.

How do returns affect my profit?

When a customer returns an order, Amazon refunds your referral fee minus a refund administration fee (the lesser of £5.00 or 20% of the referral fee), and the FBA fulfillment fee is not returned. Set your expected return rate under "Advanced" and the calculator prices this risk into your expected profit per unit.

Does the calculator include taxes?

No. Results exclude VAT and treat your inputs as tax-exclusive. It also excludes optional programs and situational charges like inbound placement or aged-inventory surcharges — use the "Misc fees" field to add anything specific to your setup.

How accurate and up to date are these fees?

Fee tables are maintained against Amazon's published United Kingdom fee schedule, currently effective 2026-04-17, and reviewed whenever Amazon announces changes. Always confirm final fees for a specific ASIN in Seller Central's revenue calculator before committing to inventory.
